Case Study – A Specialized ERP for the Tape and Reel Industry
Using an our open-source framework, we have created a highly specialized system for the Tape and Reel Industry. Because it is a service industry and a number of services may be performed on a single part number, standard quote, sales order and invoice documents won’t provide the required information.
Custom Invoicing
Each line item is a part that requires service, as opposed to a discrete service or product. We have customized the quotation, sales order packing and invoicing to allow multiple services for each line item, with notes possible for each individual service as well as for the invoice as a whole.
Part Lookup & Carrier Library
Previously taped part numbers are stored in a library to identify the characteristics and carrier used. For part numbers that aren’t in the library, they can search for an appropriate carrier based on the part’s dimensions and the necessary tolerance. Both searches are available when creating quotes and sales orders.
Work Orders
Work orders were designed for easy use on a tablet, so operators can update them right on the shop floor. The work order forms are customized for each type of service – SMD, Radial, Axial, Tinning and Lead Forming.
Labels
Bar-coded reel labels can be printed from the Packing List screen. If the packing list has more than one line item, all labels will be shown for review and the user can choose to print individual labels or all at once.
MSL labels can also be printed. These are available from the work-order screen as well as the packing list screen.
Integration With External Accounting
Although the ERP includes a fully functional accounting system, many companies (and their accountants) are already using an accounting system that they want to maintain. Our ERP can sync invoices and sales orders with Sage 50, Quickbooks or other systems on demand or on whatever schedule you want, even real-time.
